Dear Melvyn,
Your quick recap on the short lived Pro One is appreciated.
Now, the questions you raise are valid ones, and somehow related to one another. Here is my take…
If re-issued should it use a Ebauche Fleurier movement?? I believe so. Although I do not know the specifics of the movement, and judging simply by Chopard´s way of doing things, I believe this new ebauche should be a sturdy one, which would very well serve the purpose of being fit into a sports watch in the intermediate range (in terms of movements being used, not price) of the brand (Insert here the Classic and the Classic Racing lines).
Absolutely I agree with you that it should not be branded in conjunction with the Mille Miglia line. What I was trying to convey was that the new watch subject of your initial post has elements in its design, which, if tweaked a little, would enable Chopard to offer a dive watch. Being clean aesthetics, a rugged case, and a reliable movement the elements I am referring to.
Demand wise, well, only Chopard knows, especially after their attempt on the former Pro One line. Personally, I believe there is, as to my eyes there is a gap between the L.U.C. and the Classic Racing lines for those of us who are fans of the brand, enjoy active pursuits (besides motorsports), and would very much enjoy an all around watch.
Perhaps a watch like that could become an entry to the world of Chopard by those not acquainted to the brand?
I am not saying they should go ahead and make it, I am simply stating that the possibility is there.
Always a pleasure, MTF.
All the best,
Alejandro
