Which one would you choose?

As many of you know I really love vintage inspired Longines.  I already have several ones and was looking to add one of these two newer references.  The power reserve model is 38mm while the other is 40mm.  Personally I prefer 40mm but when I tried the power reserve I loved its vintage vibe a lot!  Size wise I don’t like the 19mm strap width on the power reserve but I could live with it.  I do have a very nice 19mm longlines metal bracelet I could use on the power reserve while I also have countless 20mm straps I could use on the other version 🤭.

Which one would you choose and why (if you don’t mind sharing!)?
1- power reserve model 38mm
2- time only model 40mm

Thanks! 0-1 for the time only

I'd go #2

I like a clean center seconds. If the PR model didn't have a date, tougher choice

I know what you mean! 0-2

No date for me

As I'm getting older I have grown to appreciate simpler things plus if you have multiple watches just set the time and you're good to go!

Actually it’s still a tie 6-6

True it wears very well. 1-2

The no date for me. The power reserve and date model just look awkward to me. Not really sure why tho.

Thanks for commenting! 1-3

your pic is not bad...

but look at this one! ...

Wow is it the same watch or a different LE? 1-4

By: Chronometer (aka yacomino) : April 18th, 2024-14:31

I believe it is the same. I would vote for that one even if 40mm is usually too large for me

An alternative would be a nice black dial vintage version

I was not convinced in the flesh by the black version

I find the power reserve model more interesting.

1. Date at 12 o’clock is highly unusual and therefore interesting. 2. The power reserve in the center is an interesting complication. 3. 38mm is just about a perfect size. And this model looks like it wears big. That’s not to say that I don’t like the tim...

Agreed 👍

I would go for the 2nd option.

Not a date hater but in this case I am disturbed by the date location in the first watch. This is however very personal and I feel that you cannot go wrong with either of the two watches.

Thanks! 2-5

#1.

3-5

# 1 Power reserve...

 By: wychiu : April 18th, 2024-13:43
Both are great looking timepieces and for your wrist size you can carry them nicely without issues. I think you would enjoy # 1 more in the long run because of its uniqueness and rarity. The combination of the date window @ 12, syringe hands and rotating ...

4-5. I share you descriptions opinion

By: Chronometer (aka yacomino) : April 18th, 2024-14:34

The size and the dial.

 By: amanico : April 18th, 2024-17:32

Thanks! I think it would look great on this bracelet

...

And it’s a tie … for now 5-5

By: Chronometer (aka yacomino) : April 18th, 2024-14:34

1st one

 By: nemul : April 18th, 2024-14:05
I would choose the first one - 19mm lugs are a bit a damper, but still: ...

I see! 6-5…

By: Chronometer (aka yacomino) : April 18th, 2024-14:35

Thanks lm6! 7-6

Difficult decision. I have handled both last month, albeit the 38 mm version of the dateless model

 By: hoseachandra : April 18th, 2024-15:23
I prefer the 1st, because i like the alternating brushed and polished case, creamy dial, syringe hands. The power reserve system is a bit gimmicky and could have been more simple without rotating disc.

Thanks for commenting! 8-6 for the power reserve!

I’m a sucker for Dauphine hands.

 By: EinPa : April 18th, 2024-16:14
Which makes the later the easy choice. They are different enough that at the right price point, get both and then resell the one you end up not wearing? (Or keep them both?)

Getting both is a definite option 😉

9-6 for the daulphine hands!
