Your shots really capture the strengths of the design!

First off, these are well-done photographs. They really convey the warmth that the rose gold brings to the watch.

Second, I like Chopard's decision to emphasize the two horizontal subdials using size and colour. The deemphasis of the running seconds subdial balances out the branding at the top. Date indicators are generally useful, although I find they detract from the symmetry. Here, I would like to see the result if the date cut through the running seconds subdial at 6 o'clock instead of sticking out on its own at 4 o'clock. However, thanks to the bold subdials, the date does not disrupt the overall impression of symmetry.

I prefer the look of two register chronographs to three register chronographs, even if there are exceptions. I prefer this dial to the manual wind chronograph, even the coveted Purists' Edition, because it is more symmetric at-a-glance. Yes, the legibility of the manual-wind models is also a bit better, but life is full of tradeoffs.

Agree on the date

Often a date at 4:30 makes the dial "tilt", but here I think it works OK. Even better would have been without, but sometime, date is a nice feature to have... Thank you. Best Blomman

X vs Z for the Chopard Chronograph Design Team

 By: MTF : December 15th, 2014-10:06
jmpTT I agree that it's a trade off always with chronographs: 1) Date vs No Date. 2) 12 hour vs 30 min (or 60 min) running chronograph. (Who needs a 30 min chronograph in modern times?) 3) I think the compromise of bi-compax functional display for the chr...

I agree -- the crownguard and pushers are quite unique. I the way the registers appear on this one, too, and I like the use of red numerals along the track of the seconds counter. The placement of the date is not my favorite, but I have been willing to ma...

perhaps is it the angle of the image or not, When looking through the exhibition back, the case looks like it is too big for movement or the movement too small for the case? Just a thought. Aloha, Bob

The angle makes it look smaller. The case is angled on the inside to give you full view of the rotor. Best Blomman
