Now this is the kind of post I come here for

Ken, many thanks for a very interesting and enlightening post!
I'm not interested in a brand's association with a film festival, or motor-racing/sailing/golf, or individual well-known faces; I'm interested in the integrity and quality of their products, the passion they have for what they do, and the way their designs speak to me. Knowing that only Seiko and Chopard, of the 'big guys', forge their stainless steel cases - that's worthwhile, for me. (Now whether this has real, practical implications - more scratch-resistance or better finishing, for example - I don't know.) The more data points to throw into the mix, the better.
Lovely, also, to hear that Chopard keeps the capability to make any watch-case anew from throughout their history.
Now it would be very interesting to understand more about why those three movements are Hirota-san's favourite three automatics, what makes them special and how others compare. We shouldn't be afraid to name names - and it would even more interesting to have a conversation about the most outstanding calibres in current production - bearing in mind, of course, that there are many ways to define it!
Best
E.
