Friends,
First time posting a Chopard, not mine (unfortunately).
I had the chance to handle the LUC Chopard Lunar Twin in white gold and thought it would be worth sharing it here with you!
The Lunar Twin has a very nice finish, well balanced design and of course the Moon phase!
The 40 mm white gold case has a very nice weight and beautiful designed with the combination of polished upper and brushed sides.
The silver dial has a nice 3d touch even if the main surface is plain. The applied Roman numbers and the sub-second dial helps create this illusion.
The off centered Moon phase displays both the Northern and Southern hemispheres at the same time.
The Moon phase is so accurate that you only have to adjust it one day per every 122 years!
Date at four and sub-second at six. Both are well inside the Roman numerals which gives the dial a nice balanced look even with the asymmetric design.
It is actually very refreshing to see a watch where none of the design elements overlap each other! Each got their own space.
Inside is the caliber L.U.C 96.21-L. The movement size is 33 mm in diameter and 5.1 thick.
The finish of the movement is excellent and the layout is very nice.
Beautiful micro rotor in 18 K gold, sorry for the plastic on the back, I didn’t want to take the pleasure of removing the plastic for the future happy owner.
Another detail I really like here is the case/movement ratio. 40 mm/33 mm which only leaves 3.5 mm on each side from outer case line to outer movement line.
This makes the watch to have good proportions also on the back!
With a power reserve of 65 hours, L.U.C Twin Technology, two stacked barrels you don’t risk letting the watch stop even if you don’t use it every day.
Remember, you only should need to set the Moon phase once every 122 years!
Another nice detail is that the movement is equipped with stop seconds. A function I like to be able to set the time correct.
When we talk about nice detail and what I like – the movement is also Chronometer certified!
On the wrist it has a very nice weight and good presence. It wears bigger than 40 mm, but not to big…
What can I say; Chopard is not a brand I have been focusing on… But I must confess that I like what I see and in the future I will definitely have a closer look!
Hope you enjoyed!
Best
