Chopard Museum Visit

Jan 25, 2015,13:19 PM

Last week I met MTF in Geneva for a tour of the Chopard headquarters, where Chopard has just opened their new Museum.  (KIH visited just a day or two before we did.) I must have been the only watch enthusiast in Geneva who did not attend SIHH, but our colleagues and friends certainly had that well covered. MTF and I then traveled to Fleurier for a visit to the Chopard workshop there, and to the newer Fleurier Ebauches facility.

My thoughts (and photographs) are in a state of disarray, but the visit was so interesting that I had to post just a few photographs now.

The museum is stunningly beautiful.

I was thrilled to see that PuristS are captured in that history! See for yourselves below.

How cool it was to see the new L.U.C 1963 Chonograph PuristS Edition on display in the Museum.

Then, an opportunity to pose for a wristshot of my own PuristS Edition on the workbench of Paul-Andre Chopard, grandson of Louis-Ulysses Chopard, was the icing on the cake! See below.

Huge thanks and appreciation to Chopard for two amazing days.

Much more to come.

Best,

CaliforniaJed

Great to learn you enjoyed yourself, Jed, alongside MTF. The layout of the new museum is great! Does this one substitutes the one in Fleurier or they coexist and each houses separate collections? I eagerly look forward to your photos and impressions. Than...

Coincidentally, I was just re-reading the report of your visit you wrote several years ago. No, this does not substitute for the LUCeum, though it does include a few pieces from that collection. While the LUCeum provides a history of watchmaking, generall...
