BaselWorld 2014 : Chopard Happy Sport Medium Automatic Joaillerie

Mar 28, 2014,22:03 PM

Rubies, sapphires and emeralds take over the Happy Sport Medium Automatic. A spectacular chromatic palette, led by a dance of twirling precious stones, illuminates Chopard’s iconic watch.

“Ruby red”, “sapphire blue”, “emerald green”: precious stones come in such enchanting and particular hues that they have given their names to colour tones. Today, their sparkle and energy enhances the lines of the Happy Sport Medium Automatic, the mechanical version of Chopard’s cult model, launched in 2013.

In 1993, Caroline Scheufele, Chopard’s Co-President and Artistic Director designed a sports watch based on a brand-new and explosive combination: steel and diamonds. Happy Sport was born. True to the spirit of Happy Diamonds, with its unfettered diamonds dancing between two sapphire crystals, Happy Sport rapidly became an icon of the Geneva-based manufacturer and of feminine watchmaking in general. In 2013, Chopard celebrated the 20th anniversary of this watch with a mechanical model – the Happy Sport Medium Automatic – of which the lines and volumes were given a fresh interpretation. True to its versatile and playful nature, Happy Sport has perpetually reaffirmed its modernity through the years and their changing fashions.

Flamboyant colours
This spring, the Happy Sport Medium Automatic is dressed in splendour and presents daring versions as it slips into a mantle of bright colours. Set with rubies, sapphires and emeralds, these three jewellery variations exude radiant sensuality and flamboyant style. Uncompromisingly beautiful, they plunge us into the very heart of dazzling swathes of colour, distilled by the most precious of stones.

The strong lines of the radiantly modern Happy Sport are emphasized by a bezel set with baguette-cut rubies, sapphires and emeralds. The same precious stones adorn the dial hour-markers, the crown and the cabochons. The alligator leather strap picks up the same vibrant colour, echoing the stones which adorn each watch. The 18-carat white gold case is set with diamonds, while the centre of the mother-of-pearl dial is adorned with brilliants. Not to mention the famous “Happy Diamonds”, in this instance interpreted as rubies, sapphires and emeralds twirling around the dial.

In their free-spirited flight of fancy, they electrify the joyous rhythm of days and nights.

But it will be too expensive for me! Better not show her this post. Kong, I won't let you meet my wife. You are dangerous as the Chopard mod to ladies! :p Cheers Robin
