The L.U.C. DNA and the arena display …

One of my favorite aspects of the 1963 Chronograph is the ‘arena’ case back that really shows off the gorgeous manual wind Cal. 03.07-L movement. Many of the pieces in the L.U.C. range received a mid life update which included this display back. While the automatic caliber looked fantastic, the manual wind is just made for this type of display.

There is a consistency, a family DNA, across the Chopard line now. And Guy Bove, Director of Product Development at Chopard, has been largely responsible for this. We can see some of the new design language using the Chrono One as an example. The new house style has brushed sides and polished surfaces and redesigned lugs.

The arena case back gives enormous depth to the same movement of the Chrono One. The new design is shown on the left and the original on the right.

In profile the new lug design gives the watch a much more distinctive appearance. Note that the Chrono One case is larger than the L.U.C. 1963 Chrono PuristS Edition at 44mm x 14mm.

depth effect with the arena caseback, especially with the rotor floating above the inner-circumference of caseback. It is nice. On the other hand, it also gives an impression the movement is small due to the 'framing' effect. Thanks for sharing,Andrew. Ko...

The movement is so much more in evidence with the new style of case back and, for my tastes, that makes the watch a lot more attractive. And we are also talking about a good looking movement to begin with! I expect that this new style will work very well ...
