L.U.C Chrono One

A thoroughbred chronograph

With its sleek, strong lines, contemporary look and a thoroughbred in its class , the new L.U.C Chrono One chronograph represents an ideal blend of refined technical and aesthetic features. Housing a movement entirely in-house designed, developed and produced, this new chronograph offering a flyback function features several major innovations for which three patents have been filed. This exceptional watch that meets the highest demands of Haute Horlogerie beats to the cadence of the L.U.C 11 CF movement, chronometer-certified by the COSC.

This timepiece offers a novel interpretation of what is doubtlessly one of the most sophisticated expressions of the watchmaking art: the chronograph complication. The exceptional quality standards applied to this L.U.C Chrono One are reflected in the incomparable lines of its design. Crafted in polished and brushed steel, the 42 mm case features an admirable blend of classical elegance and dynamic sportsmanship. The brilliant black dial is a model of clarity, particularly with its two oversized hour and minute counters slightly offset from the crown axis. The slender, partially hollowed “Tech”-style hour and minute hands are coated in Superluminova to ensure optimal night-time readability. With a water-resistance level to 30 metres and endowed with a 60-hour power reserve, this chronograph is equipped with a sapphire glass and transparent case back revealing the movement.

The meticulous finishing of the case and dial is matched by an exceptional movement. Designed, developed and produced by Chopard Manufacture, the L.U.C Calibre 11 CF is an integrated chronograph movement – the most prestigious in the world of chronographs. It is equipped with a column wheel – the nerve centre of high-end chronographs – and comprises a flyback function.

This series calibre is an evolution of the first Chopard chronograph movement - the L.U.C Calibre 10 CF, which powered the “Chrono One Concept”. The L.U.C Calibre 11 CF, like its predecessor, is distinguished in particular by three innovative systems. The reset function operates by means of a lever pivoting three supple hammers, thereby ensuring optimal return of the counter hands and also cushioning the reset action (patent pending). The L.U.C Calibre 11 CF also includes a “small seconds reset” function combined with a movement stop feature for a precise time setting (patent pending).

Last, the self-winding mechanism winds in both directions and comprises a unidirectional gear device (patent pending). This system avoids the loss of energy, ensuring an optimal winding speed via the gold oscillating weight.

Not to pick on Chopard

 By: Mostel : March 25th, 2009-19:11
because I do respect Chopard immensely! But... come on with the same old tired chrono designs... (no doubt it is well executed and very fine.)

Now that I think of it, however

Chopard is hardly the one to be picked on... they are probably the most 'out there' mainstream house of them all! But I do look at that chrono and say, why bother?

I prefer this dial layout though...

Hi Mostel Not sure if you are looking forward to a whole new design. I prefer this straight-forward dial to the previous more contemporary open-dial design. Legibility is better (to me) as the dial is cleaner. Well, I think I belong to the classical group...

Same here...

Chrono Layout

Mostel - I understand what you are saying about the dial and layout especially when viewed against, or in conjunction with, Chopard's other models with some breathtaking designs and layouts. However, all too often chrono layouts are overdone and unncessar...

Mmhmmm
