DIAL METHODOLOGY
Mar 30, 2015,05:21 AM
Forumners,
We will cover the dial making methodology in a future detailed 'Aesthetique & Technique' series report.
For now, here is a brief explanation from my visit to the Chopard booth at baselworld 2015:
The dial is electroplated in a galvanisation
process. there are layers of electroplating and varnish. The final lacquer/varnish layer is lightly "pressed" just before it is completely dry to leave the
markings that mimic raw gold nuggets.
Sometimes, the simplest technique produces the most complex aesthetic....
Regards,
MTF
