I agree.  SteveG cost me hundreds of thousands of dollars........

We're "watch-buddies" with the same LUC 1.96 movement!

That SteveG WOW photo also started me collecting Chopard watches and I found probably the last example of LUC 16/1860/1 supplied from Geneva to Tokyo via London. This was after futile searches at boutiques in Tokyo, Singapore, Hong Kong, London, New York and Paris.

Chopard LUC 16/1860/1 with another PuristS' watch - the St Gallen PuristSPro All Black Rescue Limited Edition.

Chopard WOW #6

 By: CaliforniaJed : August 13th, 2014-15:08
The Chopard Watch of the Week this week is SteveG's L.U.C 16/1860/2 , and I think it only fitting that the first image of this WOW #6 be the movement. It's not that the dial is anything less than stunning, but the Calibre 1.96 Iand, frankly, SteveG's love...

I have to say that is pretty cool looking movement. SteveG did a great job of capturing the beauty of it. -MW

He did better than i did!

is such a BEAUTY! Thanks for sharing. I appreciate Chopard's LUC calibres more and more these days. Fantastic finishing for the price points. Cheers robin

Agree, Robin, though I would say

at any price point! Best, CaliforniaJed

Superb movement, that's for sure.

Now, give me a 1963 Chronometer with a small second subdial at 6, which doesn't eat the minute ring, and that is one for me! Best, Mon Cher Confrere. Nicolas

I said it before and I say it again...

I love this one, CJ! :) Here I don't find the date window as disturbing as on the Longines previous discussed. Because of the dial color and dail decoraction? Not sure.... But here I don't think the date window take over! Best Blomman

I think the date window is more subtle here, Blomman.

And I must believe, MTF, that mine was the last new 16/1860/1 in California,

if not North America! Best, CaliforniaJed

Only 100 pieces produced

I did not know at the time that the 16/1860/1 existed as I was really looking for a rose gold 16/1860/2 like "what he photographed" :-) They were made in series of 1860 pieces per colour of gold. It had to be new and from authorised channels. Finally, my ...

simply beautiful

I had the same reaction, Taro, when I first saw those pics.

They drove me to find this one for myself! Best, CaliforniaJed ...

Thanks, you folks are too kind!

Thanks very much for the honor! I acquired my 1.96 in 2001, I think the model (as well as the entire L.U.C. project) was pretty much brand new. At the time, I was talking with a resale dealer about another watch, a wonderful Blancpain 7002 (worth looking ...

That's a great photo, Steve, and a great story.

I had gone to the Chopard Boutique in Costa Mesa to see a white gold Quattro with blue dial. As I was looking at it, I did a double take when I noticed my future yellow gold 16/1860/1 staring at me from a display case in the boutique. :-) I still don't ow...

An interesting closeup

If you look closely at this picture one can appreciate the near-flawless polish on the hands, as they are reflecting the dial guilloche which is reflected off the bottom of the crystal! Perhaps not surprising given Chopard's jewelry expertise. ...

That's very cool, Steve.

I have noticed that same phenomenon in a few shots of mine. I agree -- Chopard gets everything as polished as possible! Best, CaliforniaJed
