25th September 2009 – SINGAPORE


After last year’s inaugural participation in the President’s Challenge Charity Luncheon auction and raised about SGD250,000 (about USD177,000) last year with the L U C Tourbillon Tech Twist (Silicium Escapement), Chopard once again, created and successfully auctioned off a piece-unique – the Classic Racing Chrono - F1 Singapore edition, on the lawns of the Istana this afternoon, for SGD 50,000 (about USD35,000).

Chopard’s Co-President, Ms. Caroline Gruosi-Scheufele, was in town for the Luncheon and the F1 Singapore. 
She was pleased and thanked the winning bidder for the final auctioned price of SGD 50,000 (auction estimate SGD30,000) which will benefit the President’s appointed charity organizations.


The following was the reenactment of the luncheon day.  The lucheon was to begin at noon.
However as security was tight, it was better to arrive early...

At 10:30am, arrived at one of the entrances to Istana, went through security screening and then transported by bus to the event venue.

Looks like a well run elegant charity event. One thing though, with the "look" of the event setup, I would have expected a higher dollar amount raised at this charity. Cheers, Anthony

Hope the organiser will look into it. Perhaps it was good enough for them ...as the event raised a total of SGD $1 million - made up of SGD $800,000 in table sales and SGD$200,000 from the auction proceeds. Kong This message has been edited by Kong on 200...

at the price for a table of at least SGD30K. Read somewhere that Chef Nobu Matsuhisa brought 35 of his staff from his two London restaurants to prepare the 6-course luncheon for the 400pax. Kong

That's an impressive event! World leaders, FIA executives, Jean Todt, and F1 race-car drivers. Seems like the place to be! Food looks great too! Haven't tried Nobu yet, I've now been given a reason to do so. Thanks for the great report of the awesome even...
